Exploring Galgorm Castle Ballymena

The centerpiece of Galgorm Castle is its stunning 17th-century Jacobean architecture, which stands proud since its completion in 1618. This architectural marvel serves as a historical reminder of the estate’s significant role in Irish history. The castle was initially granted to the formidable warrior Rory Og MacQuillan by King James I in May 1607. However, intrigue and cunning led to Sir Faithful Fortescue tricking MacQuillan out of his estate, paving the way for the construction of the castle we admire today.
