Crashing Waves at Portrush — A New Painting from the North Antrim Coast
As the 153rd Open Championship unfolds at Royal Portrush Golf Club, the North Antrim coast is alive with global attention. While the world watches the precision and drama of championship golf, I’ve found inspiration just beyond the fairways — at the water’s edge, where the Atlantic continues its timeless performance against the rocks and cliffs of this remarkable coastline.
My process is slow, often meditative. I watch the movement of clouds over the sea, the flicker of light across the sea, the way colour and shadow shift every few minutes. These coastal scenes demand patience and attention. They’re never still — but that’s what makes them worth painting.
